DOE Instructional Design Team Earns OLC Effective Practice Award

The University of Iowa announced today that the Distance and Online Education Instructional Design team (Amy Oberfoell, Isandra Martinez-Marrero, Dan Dao, Susan Bailey and Nina Kim) has earned a 2019 OLC Effective Practice Award for the Design4Online Faculty Development program. 

The OLC Effective Practice Awards recognize the tremendous advances in digital learning that result from the ideas and initiatives of individuals and colleges and universities around the world.

Through the OLC Effective Practices program, the OLC community shares techniques, strategies and practices that have worked effectively in their institution or program. Effective practices are peer reviewed and evaluated against OLC’s five pillars of quality in digital education: access, learning effectiveness, faculty satisfaction, student satisfaction and scalability.

“We congratulate and thank the 2019 OLC Effective Practice honorees for sharing their innovative approaches to some of digital learning’s most important challenges,” said Kathleen S. Ives, D.M., Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Online Learning Consortium. “Their solutions and lessons learned offer valuable guidance for those creating and managing digital learning programs and initiatives throughout the OLC community.”

  • “COMM ePortfolio at Old Dominion University,” Alison M. Lietzenmayer, Gary A. Beck, Danielle Jackson and Carla Harrell, Old Dominion University
  • “Design4Online: Online Pedagogy Faculty Training Program,” by Amy Oberfoell, Dan Dao, Nina Kim, Susan Bailey and Isandra Martinez-Marrero, University of Iowa
  • “See It, Hear It, Feel It: Virtual Reality Immersive Learning,” Jaime Hannans, Colleen Nevins and Ben Hytrek, California State University Channel Islands
