Students learning online, off-campus, or at a distance may need extra support to access campus-based support and services. Apply these tips to help your online students succeed.
Off-Campus Access to Library Resources
Accessing library resources from wherever students live, work, or study
Off-campus access to online journals, research databases, e-books, and other library material authenticates through a proxy server.
- Course Materials+: Take advantage of the libraries' course reserve system to address any licensing or access issues and ensure links to library materials will work for off-campus students.
- You can also use the libraries' proxy link generator to quickly create a custom URL for off-campus access to library articles and resources.
Don’t let distance keep you or your online students from using campus resources
- University of Iowa Libraries will also ship most Library materials, including items borrowed from other libraries.
- Individual articles and book chapters can be scanned and delivered online.
Not sure where to get started? Just ask!
- Online instructors and students can reach out to Dan Gall, the Distance Education Librarian for support.
- Subject librarians can help with research, and Library Services staff can help with checking out materials from on and off-campus, interlibrary loan, and more.
Check the University of Iowa libraries website for the full list of hours and services.
